About Ellen
Ellen L. Hawman has a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Queen’s University and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario. She has fifteen years experience working as a research associate on the Disraeli Project (an editorial project producing the acclaimed edition Benjamin Disraeli Letters) in the English Department at Queen’s University. During this time she used her skills in transcription of nineteenth-century documents, researching the contents of those documents, editing and proofreading the subsequent annotations and, in particular, writing the back-of-the-book indexes for three large volumes of over nine hundred pages each. In 2000 she won a Special Recognition for Staff Award from Queen’s for exceptional service to the university community. In 2005 she completed a business skills program with Skebo and Associates in Kingston. Since establishing her own documents preparation business, ELPH Text Services, in 2005, she has edited and/or indexed numerous books, articles, theses and essays. She is a member of the Kingston and Area Home Business Association, the Editors’ Association of Canada and the Indexing Society of Canada.
